Getting started

Navigation Overview

What each top-menu item in StoresBoost is for, who uses it, and when to open it.

Intro

The top menu is how you move around StoresBoost. Items appear in a fixed order, but what you see depends on your role — Staff may only see day-to-day work menus, while Admins also see Collaboration, Advanced, Integration, and Apps.

This page explains each navigation item: what it is for, who typically uses it, and what you will find inside. Use it as a map before diving into the deeper guides in this Support Center.

Dashboard

Purpose: Your home screen after sign-in. It orients you to the active store and points you at unfinished setup or daily work.

Who uses it: Everyone who can sign in.

What you will find:

  • For new accounts: a setup guide (connect Shopify, warehouse, carrier, and similar first steps)
  • For connected stores: a store-focused overview and shortcuts into the areas that need attention

When to open it: At the start of the day, after connecting a store, or whenever you are unsure where work is piled up. Confirm the correct store is selected in the store switcher before you pack or change settings.

Orders

Purpose: The commercial record of every purchase synced from Shopify. Orders answer what the customer bought and how far fulfillment has gone on the store.

Who uses it: Customer service, ops leads, and anyone who needs to look up a purchase. Packing usually continues in Shipments, but many teams start here to find an order number or check payment / fulfillment status.

What you will find:

  • Status lists: On Hold, Awaiting, In Progress, Fulfilled, Cancelled, All Orders — parcel orders only
  • Local Pickup lists for counter orders (pickup orders appear only here, not on the status lists)
  • Tools on every list: Search, Filter, Views, Tags, Columns, Print
  • Draft Orders for building orders before they are live on Shopify
  • Opening an order shows items, costs, customer, tags, and links to related shipments

When to open it: Looking up a customer, reviewing open work, tagging exceptions, printing order documents, or jumping from an order into its shipments. See the Orders section of this Support Center for Search, Filters, Views, Tags, and more.

Shipments

Purpose: The warehouse workspace. Shipments answer what box (or pickup) are we working right now — rates, labels, splits, merges, and local pickup.

Who uses it: Packing teams, shipping managers, and anyone with fulfill permission. One order can have many shipments; this is where those work units live.

What you will find:

  • Shipping Dashboard with quick counts
  • Status lists: On Hold, Awaiting, Shipped, All Shipments — parcel shipments only
  • Local Pickup lists (Awaiting, Picked Up, All) — pickup shipments appear only here
  • Merge Suggestions, Customers Shipments, Routines (repeatable dispatch checklists, by hand or on a schedule)
  • Tools group: Create Shipment, Make Label
  • Settings for merge rules, merge settings, shipment defaults, shipment filters, and local pickup rules (carriers open under Integration)
  • On each list: search, filters, saved views, columns, tags, print, and a Synced column for Shopify / provider status
  • Opening a shipment is where you configure the package, record Packing (container, packs, packed by), check destination Weather, and Create + Print Label

When to open it: Daily packing, label purchase/void, merge work, and shipment settings. See Shipments in this Support Center for overviews and how-to guides.

Scan & Ship

Purpose: A barcode-first packing screen so operators can open a shipment by scan, verify line items by SKU/UPC, then buy and print a label without hunting through lists.

Who uses it: Warehouse packers with a hardware scanner (keyboard wedge). Same fulfill permission family as Shipments.

What you will find:

  • Main scan field to look up a shipment, plus a Shipment # search once one is loaded
  • Multi-match picker when more than one shipment matches
  • Verify scans per line item while packing (or Verify all on a line), a Notes card, Split shipment, inline product weight fixes
  • The same configure / rate / Create + Print Label flow once the shipment is loaded

When to open it: High-volume packing stations. Use regular Shipments lists for research, exceptions, merges, and settings — use Scan & Ship when speed at the bench matters.

Products

Purpose: Your catalog as synced from Shopify, plus StoresBoost tools for bulk edits that matter to ops (for example weights and attributes used when rating shipments).

Who uses it: Catalog managers, ops, and anyone who maintains product data that affects shipping or order entry.

What you will find:

  • Products hub with counts and shortcuts
  • Sync all products with a live progress bar and a Product sync report per run; per-product sync state and Retry failed syncs on the list
  • Bulk Editor for spreadsheet-style edits across many products
  • Batches for grouped product update work

When to open it: After catalog changes in Shopify look wrong locally, when fixing weights for better rates, or when running a controlled batch of product updates. Products do not replace Shopify Admin for full merchandising — they support fulfillment-oriented catalog work.

Collaboration

Purpose: People, roles, and departments — who can sign in and what each person is allowed to do.

Who uses it: Owners, admins, and managers who invite staff or change access. Most packers never need this menu.

What you will find:

  • Team — invite, suspend, remove members; assign roles and departments
  • Roles — permission sets (Owner, Admin, Manager, Staff, Viewer, or custom)
  • Departments — group people (e.g. Packing, CS) for organization and visibility rules
  • Permissions catalog — what each ability unlocks in the app

When to open it: Onboarding a new hire, tightening Staff access, or aligning departments with Advanced → Visibility so each team only sees its queue.

Advanced

Purpose: Store configuration that shapes how orders and shipments behave — fields, automation, documents, visibility, printing, and more.

Who uses it: Admins and managers who configure the store (typically Store configure permission). Day-to-day packers usually do not work here.

What you will find (cards on the Advanced hub):

  • Custom Fields — extra data on orders and related records
  • Documents — picking lists, packing slips, invoices, labels, manifests (formerly Order Templates)
  • Visibility — which shipments each team can see
  • Conditions — reusable logic for rules and filters
  • Store Filters — saved store-wide list filters
  • Tags — the shared tag library (colors, groups, import) used on Orders and Shipments
  • Automation Rules — workflows when orders or shipments match conditions
  • Hooks — react when inventory changes, a shipment is created, or a shipment changes status
  • Fulfillment Adjustments — move a line off Online when that location is oversold. The priority list is not edited on this screen yet
  • Warehouses — ship-from and return addresses for labels
  • Printing — default label formats (PDF / ZPL / EPL)
  • Packing Materials — boxes, heat packs, gel packs, and their costs
  • Local Pickup — also reachable from Shipments settings

When to open it: Before go-live and whenever you change how the warehouse or CS should process work. Small, tested changes are safer than many overlapping automations.

Integration

Purpose: Connect StoresBoost to the outside systems it needs — your Shopify store, ship-from warehouses, carriers, fulfillment providers, and partner tools — and check that those connections are healthy.

Who uses it: Admins and technical owners during setup and when something stops syncing or rating.

What you will find:

  • Stores — connect and manage Shopify
  • Warehouses — ship-from addresses used for rating and fulfillment
  • Carriers — UPS, FedEx, and other label accounts
  • Fulfillment Providers — 3PL / external fulfillment connections
  • Collective Partner — Collective-related settings when you use that program
  • Webhook Status — live webhook traffic, delivery history, Shopify connection health, checkout rate-request log

When to open it: First-time setup, reconnecting after auth expires, adding a warehouse or carrier, or diagnosing missing orders / failed rates. Without a store + warehouse + carrier, packing and labels cannot run end to end.

Apps

Purpose: Optional products that extend checkout and fulfillment beyond the core Orders / Shipments workspace.

Who uses it: Merchants who own checkout experience, delivery promises, or rate strategy. Visibility depends on which app abilities your role includes.

What you will find (when enabled for your plan and role):

  • Delivery Calendar — delivery dates at checkout, exceptional days, capacity, dated order calendar, tester
  • Add-On Products — offer add-ons in cart / checkout flows
  • Upsells — upsell offers and full analytics
  • Shipping Rates — checkout rate profiles (zones, groups, triggers, combinations), profile rules, tester
  • Rate Shopper — compare every carrier when packing, pick by policy, track savings
  • Inventory Management — keep products, variants, and quantities in sync with Shopify
  • Weather — destination forecasts on matching shipments and documents

Apps not on your plan show an Upgrade badge.

When to open it: Configuring customer-facing shipping/delivery options, testing rates before go-live, tuning packing-time rate shopping, or checking a catalog sync. Core packing still happens under Shipments / Scan & Ship.

Reports

Purpose: Numbers on what you shipped — postage and packaging spend, profit per shipment, products, customers, packer throughput, and custom-field sales.

Who uses it: Owners, ops leads, finance. Needs the View analytics permission.

What you will find:

  • Overview — spend, product, and profit KPIs with charts and breakdowns
  • Shipping labels — every purchased label with its costs
  • Packing materials — containers and materials used
  • Packer performance — shipments, units, and pack time per team member
  • Products / line items and Customers
  • Custom field sales — sales by a line-item custom field (e.g. bin location)
  • Custom report — build and save your own filtered reports over orders, shipments, or line items

Every report has date ranges and CSV export. See the Reports section.

Other places outside the top menu

Alerts

Operational notices that need acknowledgment or a fix — order import failures, provider sync problems, webhook backlogs, delivery-date conflicts. The bell shows the unread count. Open Alerts, acknowledge, fix the cause, then Re-check or Resolve. Full catalog in Alerts.

Profile & billing

From the user menu (avatar / name):

  • Profile — your name and account details
  • Settings — the settings shell, with AI assistants for connecting Cursor, Claude or ChatGPT to your store — see AI assistants
  • Billing / Upgrade plan — subscription and plan features that unlock menus such as Tags or Apps

Store switcher

If you belong to more than one store, the store switcher near the top changes which store’s orders, shipments, and settings you are looking at. Always confirm the active store before packing or changing Integration / Advanced settings.

Order sync

The top-bar Order sync control pulls the latest orders from Shopify. It is not a separate top-menu item, but it sits in the chrome next to your daily work. Use it when new checkouts are missing from Orders.

How the menus work together (typical day)

  1. Dashboard — confirm store and setup health
  2. Orders — find or triage purchases; tag exceptions
  3. Shipments or Scan & Ship — pack, label, ship, or mark pickup
  4. Integration / Advanced — only when something must be configured or fixed
  5. Apps — when checkout rates or calendars need a change
  6. Reports — end of day or week, to see spend and throughput
  7. Collaboration — when someone needs access

If a menu item is missing

Menus are permission-gated. Examples:

  • No Shipments / Scan & Ship → role likely lacks fulfill access
  • No Advanced → role cannot configure the store
  • No Apps → plan or role does not include those app abilities
  • No Reports → role lacks View analytics
  • Empty Tags picker → Tags feature or View Tags permission may be off

Ask an Owner or Admin to adjust your role under Collaboration → Roles, or to enable the plan feature under billing.
