Add-On Products
Offer add-on products in cart and checkout flows.
Intro
Add-On Products presents extra items (gift wrap, warranties, accessories) alongside what the customer is already buying — small offers that lift order value without redesigning your storefront.
Purpose
- Increase average order value with relevant extras
- Standardize gift / warranty options across products
Set up in your store
The app page shows a guide titled Show add-ons in your store (click Show steps):
- Add the Add-On Products block to your cart template — Add in theme editor.
- Add the checkout add-on block — Open checkout editor.
Until both blocks exist, offers are saved but never displayed.
Set up an offer
- Open Apps → Add-On Products and create an offer.
- Choose which products trigger it and which add-on items to present.
- Choose where it displays — cart and checkout, all channels, or POS.
- Set pricing / limits as available and enable the offer.
- Test in a development storefront cart, then confirm the add-on line arrives on the Shopify order in Orders.
How buyers see it
- Add-ons are always opt-in: the buyer ticks the add-on to put it in the cart. Nothing is added to a cart without the buyer's action (Shopify App Store policy).
- Each add-on is a single line with quantity 1 at the offer price; if the buyer changes the quantity or the price no longer matches the offer, the block corrects the line.
- When a buyer unticks or removes an add-on, the choice is remembered for that checkout (on the cart, not just in the browser tab). Reloading the page, switching devices via the same cart, or moving between cart and checkout does not bring the add-on back or re-offer it as new — the buyer can re-tick it themselves.
