Tags (library)

Manage the shared tag library — names, colors, groups, CSV import.

Intro

This is the tag library behind every Tags button in the app. Orders and Shipments share it: same names, same colors, applied separately on each side.

What you manage here

ActionDetails
New TagName (max 60, unique), required color, Active switch, optional group
Edit / DeleteMaintain existing tags
Import CSVBulk create — name, optional color, optional active; up to 500 rows
GroupsOrganize tags; exclusive groups behave like radio buttons on an order/shipment
Bulk deleteRemove several tags at once

Inactive tags stay on records that already carry them but disappear from pickers and filters (including the tag pickers in automation rule actions, except for tags a rule already uses) — safer than deleting when retiring a label.

The page

Tags are shown as cards grouped by tag group (exclusive groups carry an Exclusive badge; ungrouped tags come last). Each card has its colour, an Off badge when inactive, an inline Active switch for managers, Edit and Delete, and a selection checkbox for bulk delete. Narrow the page with Search, All statuses / Active / Inactive, and the group select (All groups, Ungrouped, or one group).

StoresBoost adds tags to this library itself when a feature needs one that does not exist yet — for example the merge conflict tags you name in Merge Settings (created red and active) — and only ever removes tags it attached itself; a same-named tag applied by hand stays.

Deleting tags

Deleting a tag removes it from every order and shipment that carries it, and from every automation rule action and routine step that references it. There is no undo.

You can delete from two places:

WhereWhat you see first
Advanced → Tags (this page)A plain confirmation. Also the only place for bulk delete.
The Tags button on the Orders / Shipments lists (Manage Tags or Select Tags)A usage check — how many orders and shipments carry the tag and which automation rules and routines use it, by name. The button reads Delete anyway when the tag is in use.

When in doubt, use the list's Tags button so you see the impact before confirming, or mark the tag Inactive instead.

Create or delete without leaving the list

The Tags button on the Orders and Shipments lists is always enabled. With nothing selected it opens as Manage Tags — create with New Tag, delete with the trash icon (inactive tags included). Both need the same Manage Tags permission as this page. Groups, CSV import and editing names / colors remain here.

Who can do what

  • View Tags — see and pick tags
  • Manage Tags — everything on this page
  • Applying tags to orders/shipments additionally needs edit access on those records
  • The Tags feature may also depend on your plan
