Filters
Intro
Filter turns a big packing queue into a precise work list. Choose criteria, click Apply Filters, and the table shows only matching shipments. Active filters appear as chips you can remove one by one.
Purpose
Different benches need different queues: today’s ship-by dates, one customer’s packages, everything with a fragile tag, or shipments that failed to sync to your fulfillment provider. Filters build those lists on demand.
How it helps
- Ops leads split the day’s work by dates, tags, or SKUs
- Provider sync problems become a one-click queue (Not Synced)
- A good filter set becomes a shared View for the whole team
How to use Filters
- Open a Shipments list.
- Click Filter.
- Click Add Criteria, pick a field, an operator (equals, contains, before, blank, …), and a value. Add as many rows as you need.
- Click Apply Filters — changes are staged until you apply. Closing the popover without Apply puts the criteria back.
- Review results and the chips under the toolbar.
- Remove chips individually, or Reset.
When a saved view is selected, the same footer also has Update (overwrite that view) and Save As New (keep it and save a new tab).
Column headers that support it open the same filter for that one field.
Filter fields
| Field | What it matches |
|---|---|
| Shipment Number, Order Number, Tracking | The label, the order number, or the active label’s tracking |
| Status | Awaiting, On Hold, Shipped, Picked Up, Cancelled, Merged — on All Shipments and All Local Pickup (status pages already lock it). Awaiting / On Hold / Shipped leave local pickup shipments out; All Shipments and Cancelled show everything |
| Shipment Tags, Order Tags | Tags on the shipment, or tags on the order |
| Customer, Address, City, State, Postal Code | Who it ships to |
| Delivery Date, Ship By Date, Order Date | Date comparisons — “on or before today” is the must-ship-today queue. “Today” and “within the past X days” follow the store's timezone, not your browser's |
| Synced | Synced or Not Synced with the fulfillment provider |
| Shipping Method | The checkout method name (matched first) or code, including item-level methods from a combined rate. Several values can be separated by commas |
| Carrier | The carrier on the active label |
| Shopped Carrier | The carrier Rate Shopper last chose: FedEx, UPS, USPS, or DHL. Pick one or more. Blank until that shipment has been shopped |
| Shopped Service | The winning service code from that same result, such as FEDEX_GROUND or GROUND. Several codes can be separated by commas |
| Item Name, Item SKU, Item Vendor, Item Type, Item Location | A line on the shipment |
| Items Count, Order Weight | How many lines, and the label weight |
| Internal Notes | Text in shipment notes |
Sorting
The same popover has a Sort section under the criteria. Sorting is separate from filtering — it changes the order of the rows, never which rows appear — but it is applied, staged, and saved together with the filters.
- Levels. Click Add sort level, pick a field and a direction. Add more levels to break ties: for example Item Type first, then Total Qty high → low. Drag the grip (or use the arrows) to change which level wins. Up to five levels.
- Any field. Shipment fields (status, dates, totals, tags, local pickup, last updated), the customer and address, the order (number, date, total, payment and fulfillment status, order tags), the label (carrier, carrier service, tracking, cost, weight, requested method), Rate Shopper’s latest winner (Shopped Carrier, Shopped Service), and item fields.
- Item fields — Item Type, Vendor, Location, Name, SKU — describe a shipment by its first line alphabetically (a box with Cable and Lamp sorts under Cable). Items and Total Qty count or add up all active lines. Shipments with no value for a field always sort last, in either direction.
- Custom order. For fields with a fixed set of values — Item Type, Status, Tags, Carrier, Requested Method, State, and so on — click Custom order on the level and arrange the values yourself: Apparel, Home, Accessories. Rows follow that list; anything not listed comes after it. Matching ignores case. Direction Z → A walks your list backwards.
- Column headers still work: click to sort by that column (asc → desc → off) as level 1, keeping any other levels; shift+click adds the column as an extra level. When more than one level is active the header shows its level number.
- Sorted by … appears under the view tabs while a custom sort is active; click it to edit, or × to go back to newest first.
- Click Apply Filters to run the sort; Update stores it on the selected view, and a Not saved to view badge reminds you when the view's saved sort differs from what you are looking at.
Filters vs Search vs Views
| Tool | Best for |
|---|---|
| Search | One known shipment |
| Filters | Building a criteria list right now |
| Views | Reusing that list every day |
Tips
- Ship By Date on or before today is the classic “don’t miss the carrier cutoff” queue.
- Shipping Method matches the name customers saw at checkout, and also the method stamped on each item when checkout sold a combined rate.
- Filtering by Item SKU helps when a product is recalled or out of stock.
